Davis Hale is a saxophonist and educator based in Louisville, Kentucky. Currently serving as an Instructor of Music at the University of Louisville, Davis teaches Woodwind Methods, guest conducts the Saxophone Ensemble, and has taught Applied Lessons and coached saxophone quartets and other chamber ensembles. As a private teacher, Davis’ students have earned distinguished scores at both Kansas and Illinois Solo and Ensemble festivals, placed first chair in honor groups such as the Kansas Sousa Band, and have majored in music at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

As a soloist, Davis has won first prize at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Young Artist Competition and was the winner of concerto competitions at Illinois State University, the University of Louisville, and the Youth Performing Arts School. He has presented at past North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conferences as well as at Navy Band Saxophone Symposiums. He performs regularly throughout Kentucky, presenting programs that promote the music of living composers. Davis also regularly performs in chamber settings and has competed in the Coltman, North American Saxophone Alliance, Macauley and Kentucky Music Educators Association Chamber Competitions.
Davis previously completed degrees at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, Illinois State University, and the University of Louisville as well as additional studies at the Université Européenne de Saxophone in Gap, France. His primary teachers include Zach Shemon, Geoffrey Landman, Paul Nolen, Adam McCord, and Ron Jones, and he is currently completing his doctoral studies with James Bunte at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
